A Letter From the Chairman of the Board
Oct 17, 2011Dear Chamber Member:
This City of Coppell will hold an election on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Two issues on that ballot deal with the reauthorization of a ¼ cent sales tax for Crime Control and a ¼ cent sales tax for Street Maintenance. The Coppell Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors supports reauthorizing both taxes, and urges you to join us in voicing your support for these measures .
It is important to understand that this is NOT a new tax, but a reauthorization of a tax currently in effect. The Chamber supports passing this initiative because the $5 million in funds raised annually from these taxes are dedicated to two vital City functions allowing Coppell residents and businesses to maintain property values.
If the $5 million in funds were no longer available, Crime Control and/or Street Maintenance services would be reduced or additional taxes would be required to maintain the current levels of service. These additional taxes could take the form of increased property taxes. By voting to continue dedicating the revenue raised by these sales tax items to Crime Prevention and Street Maintenance, you are supporting the high quality of life in Coppell.
Please take the time to review the attached Resolution supporting the reauthorizations, and we encourage you to VOTE YES! on Tuesday, November 8 on both issues.
Thank you,
Casey Klein
Chairman of the Board, Coppell Chamber of Commerce
